John Harvey Hinnen, a 64-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 at the Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the May Cemetery at Chula.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at the funeral home, where general visitation is now under way.
Mr. Hinnen was born on Aug. 7, 1947 in Chillicothe, the son of Fred “Marvin” and Velma Searcy Hinnen. He attended grade school at Manning School and Chula R-3. He was a 1965 graduate of Chillicothe High School. He enlisted in the National Guard in December 1964 and served for six years until December 1970.
He was married on Nov. 26, 1969 in Eversonville to Marie Marsh, who survives of the home. He lived in the Chula community and raised his family there until 1995, when he moved to rural Chillicothe.
Mr. Hinnen worked for Morton Buildings Inc. for 34 years and retired in December 2011. He was a member of the Highview Baptist Church and the Livingston County Steam and Gas Association for 25 years, serving as the current president and was a vice president for a number of years. He was an avid antique tractor collector and enjoyed restoring old tractors and hunting deer. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Cathy Reed and her husband, Robbie of Marshall, Barbie Cothern and her husband, Chris of Chillicothe and Terri Dunn and her husband, Mark of Chillicothe; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; his step-mother, Lois Hinnen of Chillicothe; one sister, Charlotte Faye Mammen and her husband, Jack of Chillicothe; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Marsh and his wife, Joy of Milan and Harold Marsh of Chillicothe; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Fern Warren.
