Grundy County vote results in Tuesday’s Presidential Primary mirrored those of the state, both of whom chose Republican Rick Santorum and Democrat Barack Obama as their top candidates.

Santorum racked up 284 votes, far outdistancing second-place finisher Mitt Romney with 147. Other vote totals on the Republican side include Ron Paul, 104; Rick Perry, 6; Michele Bachmann, 3; Gary Johnson and Herman Cain, 2 each; Jon Huntsman, 1; Michael Meehan and Keith Dummond, 0; and uncommitted, 23.
Obama finished with 69 votes on the Democrat side. Other vote totals included Randall Terry, 5; Darcy Richardson and John Wolfe, 3 each; and uncommitted, 9. James Ogle III received 0 votes on the Libertarian Party and there were 2 uncommitted votes cast for the Constitution Party, which had no candidates listed.
A total of 664 persons voted in Grundy County, representing nearly 10.5 percent of the total registered voters.
