Loretta Corene “Lori” Borowiak, a 72-year-old resident of Omaha, NE, died on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 at Methodists Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, with the family receiving friends at 9 a.m. at Braman Mortuary in Omaha with Pastor Jim Hardy officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Derek Thorne, Brian Wright, John Hawkins, Alex Handy, Darren Buckner and Lane Vellinga. Honorary pallbearers are Steven Thorne, Curtis Thorne and Jerry Wright.
Mrs. Borowiak was born on Oct. 9, 1939, the daughter of Colby and Norma Wright. She was married on Dec. 21, 1957 to Glenn Norman Thorne, and had two sons. On March 20, 1989, she married William “Bill” Borowiak and resided in Omaha for the length of their marriage. Mr. Borowiak preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 2006.
Mrs. Borowiak graduated from the University of Omaha with a degree in gerontology. She had a love for cats, and spent a great deal of time volunteering at the Humane Society.
Mrs. Borowiak is survived by two sons, Steven Thorne and his wife, Alta, and Curtis Thorne and his wife, Brenda, all of Trenton; a brother, Jerry Wright of Waukee, IA; four grandchildren, Natalie Thorne, Heidi Thorne and Derek Thorne, all of Trenton, and Brandi Thorne (Mrs. John Hawkins) of Kansas City; five great-grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece.
In addition to her second husband, she is preceded in death by her parents.
