A total of 220 persons have signed up to participate in the 2012 Green Hills Weight Loss Challenge, according to coordinator Molly Long of the Grundy County Health Department.

This year’s contest will run for 12 weeks and participants will be required to weigh each week (either Thursday or Friday) at the Ketcham Community Center or the Grundy County Health Department during regular business hours. The first weigh-in takes place today and Friday.
The cash prize pool, which totals $2,600, will be divided among all participants who have lost 10 percent or more of their initial body weight at the conclusion of the contest. The cash prize pool was determined by adding the $1,500 donation from the health department and half of the registration fees for the contest.
In addition, all persons who complete and turn in their food and exercise journals will be eligible for a drawing that will include two one-year memberships to the KCC and two one-year subscriptions to the Trenton Republican-Times newspaper. The health department, KCC and R-T are sponsoring the 2012 challenge.
