Junior Varsity Sweeps Hamilton On The Road

The Trenton High School JV basketball teams hit the road on Thursday night and came home with a pair of victories.
The girls and boys took on Hamilton, with the Lady Bulldogs finishing with a 52-16 win while the Bulldogs got a 50-31 win.

Lady Bulldogs
The Trenton girls jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as they got their eighth win of the season. Trenton dominated both offensively and defensively, holding a 25-6 lead at the half and were up 37-14 to start the fourth quarter.
“The girls really played well,” said Coach Brandon Boswell.
McKinley Hurley had 15 points to lead THS, now 8-1 on the year. Bekah Wiggins added 12 points while Tosha Wilson put up nine. Others scoring for the Lady Bulldogs were Ashley Allen, Mallory Hooyman and Payton Guile with four each and Maggie McNabb and Megan Derry, who had two each.
Bulldogs
The boys got off to a strong start, taking a 19-6 lead in the first quarter. Trenton continued to dominate, leading 24-13 at the half and 35-20 to start the fourth quarter.
“Our defense and transition offense really set the tone for us,” Coach Adam Clark said.
Charlie Hoffman was the leading scorer with 13 points, including two three-point shots, while Gannon Albrecht had 12 points and Cade Mullenix put up 10 points, including one three-pointer. Bailey Owen scored nine points and Chris Kurtz, Jacob Hamilton and Chris Flowers each put up two points. Kurtz finished the night with 10 rebounds and five steals. Kurtz, Hamilton and Owen had three assists each.
“Once again, Chris Kurtz helped us control the boards and Gannon Albrecht did a great job scoring in the paint for us,” Clark said. “The boys did a great job of sharing the ball offensively and anticipating on defense.”
The JV Bulldogs are now 7-3 on the year.
Both teams will be playing next week in the Gallatin JV Tournament. The boys will play South Harrison at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19. The girls will play Maysville at 7 o’clock on the same night.
