Personnel and field trips were among items addressed by boards of education at Tri-County R-7 and Livingston County R-3 this week.
Area Boards Accept Resignations, Approval School Trips

The Tri-County R-7 Board of Education took care of several personnel issues during its meeting on Thursday night.
According to information provided by Superintendent Phil Fox, the board accepted the retirement/resignation of Title 1 teacher Paula Fagan, effective at the end of the school year. The resignation of seventh grade teacher Scott Moran was accepted, effective immediately, and Brittany Hixon was offered a long-term substitution contract to complete the year as seventh grade instructor.
The board previewed the preliminary calendar for the 2012-2013 year, with action to be taken at the February meeting. The board also heard a presentation regarding the district budget, with no action taken.
A Department of Education report regarding the upcoming federal program review was presented to board members, who also took no action on replacement of a water cooler at the high school. Approval was given to replace a damaged tranmission for one of the school busses at a cost of $3,000. Osborn Transmission will make the repair.
The next meeting of the board will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13.
Livingston County R-3
The Livingston County R-3 Board met at Chula Tuesday night, approving field trips and hearing about an adult computer class.
According to information provided by School Administrator Jocelyn Meservey, the board approved a field trip to Chillicothe Middle School on Feb. 22 to hear a visiting author and one to Warrensburg on March 19 or 20 for the Children’s Literature Festival. The board also heard a report on adult computer classes, which will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays in March. The classes are open to community members.
In other business, the board heard a report from Ms. Meservey on the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan and the Safety/Emergency Response and Intervention Plan.
During the public comment portion of the meeting, Kerry Savage thanked the board for allowing her to present the Award of Distinguished Service to her father, Harry Hargrave, at the Christmas program.
In other business, the board reviewed goals, with no changes made and held an executive session to discuss a student matter during the early part of the meeting. An executive session was held at the end of the regular meeting to discuss personnel. No announcements were made.
The next regular meeting is a set for 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13. This is a charge in the regular meeting date.
