The Missouri Department of Conservation will host a free Whitetail Deer Management Workshop on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the A.V. Spillman Event Center in Jamesport.

The event will run from 1 to 4 p.m. All landowners and land managers interested in learning how to enhance the health, habitat and management of whitetail deer are encouraged to attend.
Emily Flinn, MDC Private Land deer biologist, is the featured speaker. A native of central Kentucky, she received her master’s degree from Mississippi State University, researching causes of regional variation in deer antler and body size. Landowners will learn about whitetail biology, management strategies, hunter management, habitat management, herd management and monitoring and where to go for planning assistance.
Attendees are encouraged to bring antlers from past harvested bucks or sheds they have found for display and conversation. Refreshments and handout materials will be provided.
