Lady Bulldogs
The Lady Bulldogs doubled up South Harrison in the first quarter, taking an 8-4 lead and closed the half with a 13-2 second-quarter run that gave them complete control of the contest. In the second half, South Harrison outscored Trenton in the third quarter but the Lady Bulldogs closed strong, taking the game by 22 points.
Bekah Wiggins had a big night in the paint, leading Trenton with 14 points. Megan Derry was in double figures as well, scoring 11 points. Trenton also got four points each from McKinley Hurley and Tosha Wilson and one point from Maggie McNabb.
Bulldogs
There wasn’t a lot of scoring in the first quarter of the boys game. In fact, over four minutes rolled off the clock before Trenton got the game’s first points on a fast-break lay-up by Charlie Hoffman. Trenton would end up with a 7-5 first quarter lead and continued to show the lead throughout the game right up until the final South Harrison possession.
“The boys played very hard all game, keeping a lead until the very last seconds,” Trenton JV boys’ Coach Adam Clark said. “Our opponents were able to hang around due to some sloppy play at times and we missed a few key shots late in the game. It was a disappointing loss, however, I think we can take some things from this game that will make us better in the future.”
The JV boys fell to 4-2 with the loss. Chris Kurtz led the way for THS with nine points and 12 rebounds. Cade Mullenix had seven points and five steals and Charlie Hoffman had six points and three assists. Isaiah Swann had five points and Jacob Hamilton had two.
Both JV teams play at home again tonight against Brookfield, beginning at 6 p.m.
