Bernie E. Hines, a 96-year-old resident of Milan died on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 at the Sullivan County Hospital in Milan.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at the Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at the Deeds Cemetery.
Family visitation will be tonight (Friday, Jan. 6, 2012) at the funeral home.
Mr. Hines was born on Dec. 26, 1915 in Pollock, the son of Everett and Rosalea Hostetter Hines. He was married on Jan. 23, 1948 in Sullivan County to Ruth Michael Man, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Hines lived in Sullivan County his entire live and attended the Bairdstown and Liberty Union churches. He and his wife operated the family farm. He enjoyed trout fishing, traveling, hunting, playing cards, helping his neighbors and spending time with his family.
Hei s survived by two sons, Duane Hines and his wife, Ruth of Unionville and Randy Hines and his wife, Shirley of Brashear; two daughters Vicki Stimpson and her husband, Jerry of Harris and Peggy Howard and her husband, Ed of Novinger; several grandchildren; 18-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; twin children in infancy; a granddaughter in infancy; two great-grandsons in infancy; three brothers, Asbury, James and Carl Hines; and three sisters, Isa Reed, Lucy Steele and Mary Tipton.
The family suggests memorials to the Deeds Cemetery.
