On a 6-0 vote, with Martha Roberts absent, the board agreed to allow Director of Curriculum Barb Cox begin the application process that would allow the district to receive 77 percent off its telecommunication costs for next school year. The e-rate, which has been received by the district for the past 15 years, is saving $14,420.87 this year. The rate discount includes telephone lines as well as the Internet.
Gemma Gray was allowed to attend school on a part-time basis next semester so that she can take a class at North Central Missouri College. Early graduation status was given to Morgan Hamilton, contingent upon her completing the required courses this semester.
Superintendent Becky Albrecht announced that incumbents J.D. Pash and Mrs. Roberts had filed for re-election to three-year terms on the board, subject to the April 3 election. Persons wanting to file can do so at the district office during business hours from now until Jan. 17.
Mrs. Albrecht reported that the district’s safety plan is in the process of being updated and that administration met on Friday to review evacuation procedures. She said the district has also received a safety checklist from its insurance carrier, MUSIC, and will be distributing that to staff members.
The board heard a report on the guidance program, given by elementary counselor Elizabeth McKinley on behalf of the counseling staff at all three levels.
An executive session for personnel and real estate was held. Jaime Beverlin was hired as a paraprofessional at the high school.
