Trenton High School welcomed Carrollton to town Tuesday night for a pair of games that went in opposite directions. Trenton’s Lady Bulldogs hammered the Lady Trojans 69-32, but the THS boys team ended up on the wrong end of a similar score, falling 62-49.

Lady Bulldogs
The Trenton girls continued to show they have a variety of scoring threats as Scotlin Hurley became the fourth different leading scorer for the Lady Bulldogs in their first six games of the season. Hurley went for a career-high 17 points in the contest. Trenton also continued to show balanced scoring as well, as Cassidy Cotton finished with a career-high 15 points and Makaila Capeder added 14.
“We have played six games up to this point in time and in those games we have had four different leading scorers,” Lady Bulldogs’ Head Coach Quentin Albrecht said. “The other night it was Halie Brewer with 16, tonight it was Scotlin with 17 and we have had Avery Whitaker and Makaila Capeder lead us in scoring also. When you have balanced scoring like that it makes you really hard to guard. Tonight they did a pretty good job of taking away our interior game so our guards come out and scored 17, 15 and it was good to see that.”
Madi Trump and Avery Whitaker each added six points for the Lady Bulldogs while Maddie Hooyman scored five. Brewer pitched in with four points and Chandler Wilson rounded out the team’s total with two points.
Scoring came easy for the Lady Bulldogs, who generated a lot of points in transition as a result of a strong pressure defense.
“Any time you can create turnovers and maybe get some transition lay-ups, it takes a lot of pressure off your offense. We put a lot of emphasis on defense, both in the half court and the full court.”
With the victory, Trenton improved to 4-2 on the season.
Bulldogs
The Trenton boys struggled out of the gate and trailed 33-11 after the first half. Trenton was able to get some offense going late in the game, largely in part to Austin Norris, who finished with a team-high 17 points, 14 of which came in the fourth quarter. Carrollton had the game in hand by that point, however, and the Trojans held on for a 13-point victory.
Colby Larson added 11 points for Trenton, which also got eight each from Chase Tolson and Wilson Utley, two each from Austin Taul and Keegan McGinness and one from Brennon Vandevender.
With the loss, Trenton fell to 2-4 on the season.
Both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs return to action on Friday as they travel to Gallatin. The girls game tips off at 6 p.m. with the boys contest to follow.
