Lawrence Lee Moore, an 86-year-old resident of Princeton, died on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton with Pastor Jack Stark and Guy Earl Evoritt officiating. Burial will be in the Princeton Cemetery.
Open visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home until service time.
Mr. Moore was born near Mercer on June 24, 1925, the son of Charles Lawrence “John” and Pauline Uarda Ragan Moore. He was raised in Mercer, where he was a 1943 graduate of Mercer High School. After high school, he served his country during World War II as a Pharmacist’s Mate Third Class in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Essex Aircraft Carrier in the South Pacific. After the war, he resided in Princeton, where he worked in several vocations including the City of Princeton in the electrical generating plant; for Si Grina selling bottle gas and appliances; for House and Sims Propane (later known as Petrolane); and for the Grand River Mutual Telephone Corporation in the right-of-way department. He also was very active in the Princeton community as a member of the volunteer fire department, helping out with the local Boy Scout Troop, a member of the Princeton First Christian Church, and as a member of the Princeton VFW. He enjoyed spending time with friends at the Mercer County Senior Center in Princeton.
Mr. Moore was married on June 24, 1946 to Hildred Nadean Vinzant, who preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 2003.
He is survived by two sons, Jim Nelson-Moore and his wife, Judy of Santa Fe, NM and Bob Moore of Ocate, NM; two granddaughters, Marnie Schrader and her husband, Denny of Kalona, IA and Mallory Moore of Columbia; one brother, Myron Moore, of Mercer; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Moore, and a sister-in-law, Dixie Moore, both of Princeton; four great-grandchildren; and by other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Johnnie Moore; and two brothers, James Elvin and Ames Lynn Moore.
