Board President Cathy McKay presided at the meeting and welcomed board members and visitors.
WMH Foundation Development Officer Matt Osterthun gave a recap of the October Breast Cancer Awareness effort. He indicated that $4,818.01 was raised from the sale of pink t-shirts and other donations in support of the mammography department. Osterthun also said that the mammogram postcard that was mailed was a huge success and led to a substantial increase in the number of mammograms, from 79 in the month of September to 170 in October.
Emily Jones, senior radiology tech, and Connie Followwill, Outpatient Nurse Coordinator for the hospital, were present at the meeting and thanked the board and Hometown Pharmacy for their support during the month of October to promote the importance of mammograms.
The donor recognition wall is currently in production and will arrive within a month.
Osterthun informed the board that to date, $97,592 had been raised and pledges reached $34,965 during the 2011 calendar year. In addition, 133 persons gave to the WMH Foundation for the first time. The foundation saw a 105 percent increase in total dollars donated in support of the hospital from 2010 to 2011. Osterthun said this is a great sign of progress as the WMH Foundation strives to increase awareness and the importance of supporting the hospital.
CEO Gary Jordan was welcomed to the meeting and gave a brief update on the hospital’s exterior signage, as well as the recruitment for a full-time general surgeon.
