Rex Michael, an 84-year-old resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, died at 6:30 this morning (Friday, Nov. 25, 2011).

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at the Galt Christian Church in Galt, MO. Burial will follow in the Half Rock Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton.
Mr. was born on March 12, 1927, west of Newtown, the son of Clifford Barnes and Estella Grace Overstreet Michael. He graduated from Newtown-Harris High School in 1945. On Dec. 27, 1948 he was united in marriage to Wilma Fern Hardman in Princeton, MO. After their marriage they moved to Sacramento, CA. In 1956 they moved back to the Newtown-Harris area and then to Trenton in 1969. From July 18, 1945 until Sept. 24, 1951 he served in the United States Army and the United States Air Force.
Mr. Michael is survived by a wife, Wilma Michael of Galt; two sons, George Michael and his wife, Teresa of Galt and David Michael and his wife, Trish of Trenton; three daughters, Betty Moore and her husband, Donnie of Trenton, Elaine Loghry and her husband, Tom of Galt and Jackie Pangburn of Corodyn, IA; a sister, Willa Dean Barr and her husband, Bill of Kansas City; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Those preceding him in death include his parents; his step-mother, Hildred Barnett Michael and; and eight-year-old son, Jerry Wayne Michael.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Sho-Me Christian Home Galt Unit.
