Tuesday night’s home-opening dual against Chillicothe for the Trenton Middle School wrestling team played out like two duals in one. Trenton won just two of the first 15 matches against the Hornets, but closed strong, winning 10 of the final 15 matches.
TMS Wrestling Struggles Early, Battles Back Late
Leading the way for Trenton as Drew Rorebeck and Hayden McGill, both of whom scored two wins on the night. Rorebeck earned the team’s first win of the dual, picking up a win by fall and took his second win by fall as well. McGill earned his wins by a fall and a 7-1 decision.
Other Trenton grapplers scoring wins on the night included, Wynne DeVorss, who won by fall; Logan Shuler, who won by fall; Daniel Rodriguez, who won by fall; Logan Lowrey, who won by a 5-4 decision; Colton Allen, who won by a 5-3 overtime decision; Trey Shields, who won by fall; Conner Lovell, who won by a 6-1 decision; and Cole Little, who won by a 6-2 decision.
Other wrestlers in action for Trenton included, Brandon Maberry, Derek Stimpson, Landon Ellis, Tyler Warner and Chris Brown.
The Trenton Middle School wrestlers will be back in action on Monday, Dec. 5 as they travel to lawson for a dual with the Cardinals. The first match is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
