The boxes will be in the businesses through Monday, Nov. 28. In addition to assisting with the tree lighting, the winning child will also receive a gift basket from participating businesses, valued at around $50, and get to be the first child to sit on Santa’s lap.
Boxes will be placed at Grand River Press, Lucky Dog Embroidery, Simply Chic, the North Grand River Baptist Association, Citizens Bank and Trust, the Antique Mall, Girlfriend’s Boutique and Howard’s Department Store.
In addition to the tree lighting, other events planned on Nov. 30 are live Christmas window scenes, a live nativity scene, horse and carriage rides, tractor and wagon rides, live music, dancers, a fire truck display and food, including a soup supper at the Trenton Masonic Lodge. The Grundy County Museum will be open along with several downtown businesses. Santa Claus and his elves will be in the Sesquicentennial Park and persons will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa.
The event is being sponsored by the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Trenton Downtown Improvement Association and will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
