Richard “Dick” Edwards, an 88-year-old resident of Trenton, died early Monday morning, Nov. 14, 2011 at the Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

The body was cremated and, at Mr. Edwards’ request, no services will be held. Resthaven Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Edwards was born on Aug 30, 1923, the son of Glenn D. and Dorothy A. Roberts Edwards. He graduated from Cotter, Iowa High School. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp in 1943 and received his honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1946.
He was married to Juanita “Tootie” Smith on April 2, 1948. After his discharge, he worked for bishops for 27 years in various towns. The family moved to Trenton in 1970, when they opened the Coast to Coast Store. He also drove over-the-road trucks, pulling Charlow and Mansfield mobile homes.
He was a 50-year member of the Sioux City Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Tootie Edwards of the home in Trenton; two sons, Harry Edwards of Mokane and Thomas Edwards of Albany, GA; a brother, Terry Edwards of Muscatine, IA; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions have been suggested to be given to the Honey Creek Methodist Church. These may be left at or mailed to the Resthaven Mortuary at PO Box 587, Trenton MO 64683.
