Lady Panthers
The Grundy girls were close the whole way through, but Cainsville outscored the Lady Panthers in all four quarters to pick up the eight-point victory.
Grundy was led by Kelsey Bummer, who had eight points in the loss. Matana Munday added five points and Jodie Dickerson scored four while Kristie Coin and Emily Kenley each scored two points.
With the loss the Lady Panthers fell to 1-9 on the season.
Panthers
The Grundy boys were close as well, but suffered the same fate as the Lady Panthers as they lost by single digits, 36-30. North Harrison went up 10-5 in the first quarter and then grabbed complete control with a 13-0 run in the second quarter. The Shamrocks still led 30-13 heading into the final frame, but Grundy dominated the fourth quarter. The Panthers outscored their opponents 17-6 in the final frame, but even that wasn’t enough to overcome the damage done in the first half.
Grundy was led by John Piodos, who had eight points and three steals. Alex Webb added seven points and three steals and Mason Alley had seven points, nine rebounds and four steals. Mason Radcliff gave the Panthers six points and three steals and Tanner Hudson finished with two points and five rebounds.
With the loss, the Panthers fell to 6-4 on the season.
Next up for the teams from Grundy is a doubleheader with Tri-County tonight. The Lady Panthers and Panthers will travel to Jamesport to take on the Lady Mustangs and Mustangs in a junior high doubleheader. Action tips off with the girls game at 6 p.m. and the boys will follow.
