Opening ceremonies for the 2011 Missouri Day Festival will be Thursday night at the First Baptist Church. Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce President Debbie Carman will serve as master of ceremonies.

Activities begin at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary and include announcement of the coloring contest and yard decorating contest winners as well as introduction of the grand marshals for Saturday’s parade. There will also be recognition of the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts, who will be presenting the colors.
Music will be provided by the THS show choir, Gold Rush, under the direction of Matthew Remus, and will include four songs along with the National Anthem. The THS and TMS vocal music students will also present a fall concert following the program.
Prior to the opening ceremony, the Trenton Area Business Women will have a soup supper in the fellowship hall of the church from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
