The Princeton Tigers had a rough time on Friday night on the road in Bethany as they fell to South Harrison, a team receiving votes in the Class 1 state poll, 47-8.
South Harrison set the tone early, jumping out to a 33-0 lead behind five first quarter touchdowns.
Princeton Falls In Bethany
South Harrison quarterback Dylan Heitz did the bulk of the damage, scoring rushing touchdowns of one, seven and 67 yards. The Bulldogs also punched the ball in on a 50-yard interception return and a 48-yard pass from Heitz to Cole Osborne.
South Harrison would tack on two more touchdowns, one in the second quarter and one in the third to push the lead to 47-0. Princeton finally got on the board in the third quarter when quarterback Colton Hartley ran the ball in from 17 yards out. A two-point conversion attempt failed with an incomplete pass. The Tigers would get those two points in the final quarter, recording a safety to push their total to eight points.
That would be all the Tigers got, however, as they suffered their second loss in as many weeks and third of the season. The Tigers are now 3-3 both overall and in the Grand River Conference. Princeton will look to bounce back next week as they play Milan at home at Eddie Allen Field in Princeton. The game is the first district game for the Tigers, who will play Putnam County and Marceline in the final two weeks of the regular season.
Action between the Tigers and Wildcats will kick off at 7 p.m. Friday night.
