THS Volleyballers Come Close, But Can’t Earn Win

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs’ made a couple of good runs at Plattsburg on Monday at home, but couldn’t score a win as they fell 25-23, 25-21.

Trenton jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening game behind the serving of Holly Doolin. Plattsburg rallied to tie the contest at 10-10 and showed the way the rest of the game as Trenton fell. The Lady Bulldogs did make one final rally late, scoring five points in a row to cut the lead to 24-23 before finally falling. Trenton was able to play the Lady Tigers closely again in the second set, but still couldn’t quite get the win, falling by four points.
Katie Ireland continued to play well at the net, recording five kills and three blocks. Bekah Wiggins had a good game on the front line as well, tallying four kills and two blocks. Kate Ewald handed out nine assists and Gwen Delp had 20 digs. Monica Weaver and Kelsey Scott each hit double-digit digs in the match as well.
With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs fell to 2-10 on the season. Trenton will be looking to bounce back tonight as they travel to Gower to face East Buchanan. First serve is set for 5 o’clock.
