The Trenton Lady Bulldogs were in Lexington Tuesday night for a rare doubleheader. In addition to the Lady Bulldogs regular-season match-up with the Minutewomen, Trenton and Lexington also faced off in the Lexington Tournament championship game, which was rained out back on Sept. 10.

Trenton came away with wins in both games, winning the tournament title 2-0 in game one and the regular-season meeting, 10-0 in game two.
Trenton found themselves in a close battle with the Minutewomen with the championship on the line. Kate Lowrey and Rahel Horner came up with RBIs in the contest, but the way Chanel Pash was pitching, one would have been plenty.
Pash mowed down the Minutewomen, throwing all seven innings, allowing no runs on just one hit while fanning 11.
Lowrey finished 2-for-3 with a double and the RBI and Scotlin Hurley was 2-for-3 as well with a run scored. Madi Trump and Makaila Capeder each recorded a hit in the game as well with Capeder’s being a double.
Game two was nowhere near as close as a defeated Lexington squad failed to present much of a challenge after the championship loss. Trenton 10-run ruled the Minutewomen in the fifth inning. Hurley was 3-for-4 with a triple and Pash and Lowrey each drove in two runs to lead the offensive explosion. Trump was 2-for-2 and Maddie Hooyman, Capeder and Shelby Chaney all had hits in the game as well.
“I thought it was good to go on the road and play Lexington, who is pretty solid,” Lady Bulldogs’ Head Coach Steve Richman said. “We hit the ball hard and while some of the girls who have been hitting better didn’t hit as well, some of the girls who weren’t hitting all that great hit really well. We are starting to get better balance throughout the lineup.”
On the hill, Hurley was nearly lights out, shutting out the Minutewomen, throwing five innings, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out five.
With the two wins, Trenton improved to 17-0 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs will look to keep the streak alive on Thursday when they play host to Cameron on Griffin Field in Trenton. The first pitch is set for 5 p.m.
“We have just passed the midway point in our season,” Richman said. “It feels like we are getting ready to peak at the right time.”
