The JV Bulldogs found themselves in a scoreless game in the first half in Polo. Neither team could crack the end zone and the game was still deadlocked at 0-0 at halftime.
In the second half the Bulldogs finally broke through, scoring on a five-yard pass from quarterback Chris Kurtz to Charlie Hoffman. Chanse Houghton ran in the two-point conversion and Trenton was on the board, 8-0.
Shortly after in the third quarter, Trenton revisited the end zone with a 65-yard run by Kurtz on a keeper. Trenton failed in its second bid for two points and led 14-0.
Just before the end of the quarter, Polo answered with a touchdown of its own, but was denied any points after and Trenton’s lead was cut to eight points entering the final frame.
The JV Bulldogs tacked on some insurance in the fourth with a six-yard touchdown run by Chris Kurtz that gave Trenton the win by the final score of 20-6.
Next Monday, only the junior varsity is in action as the Bulldogs host Lawson at C.F. Russell Stadium in Trenton. Kick off for the game is set for 6 p.m.
Both teams will be in action the following week, Oct. 3, traveling to Lexington for a JV/freshmen doubleheader. That event is scheduled for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
