Foundation Board President Cathy McKay presided at the meeting and welcomed board members and visitors. Chad Boyd of Trenton was introduced as a new member, filling an unexpired term on the board.
Matt Osterthun, foundation development officer for the hospital, reported that the Foundation Board has fulfilled a 100 percent participation with either a pledge or contribution. He indicated that this is a major step in the growth and progression of the Foundation and congratulated the board.
Osterthun gave a final report on the Foundation Golf Tournament held on July 29. He said it was another successful event with a net income of $14,567. The tournament committee has considered moving the event to an earlier date in the future.
Osterthun also presented the final design and quote for the donor recognition wall to be installed in the hospital. Minor changes to the design were made and the board agreed to purchase the wall recognizing individuals, businesses, foundations, etc. on a lifetime, cumulative giving basis. Estimated time of arrival of the donor recognition wall has yet to be determined.
Cathy McKay reported that the Foundation will be sponsoring a breast cancer awareness event in October in observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Trenton Hometown Pharmacy will be partnering with the foundation on this initiative by helping with the direct postcard mailing and T-shirt sales. Pink T-shirts will be sold for $10 each throughout October, and a gathering will be held Oct. 26 at a location yet to be determined.
Interim CEO Gary Wages thanked Tom and Linda Eads for their contribution to purchase the furniture for the Wright Memorial Chapel. Wages also thanked those who had a sponsorship in the golf tournament, whose proceeds were used to purchase an infant warmer for the OB Department. Wages reported that issues with the external signage at the hospital have been addressed with temporary signage. He also reported that Dr. Pamela Ralls has begun her practice at Wright Memorial and recruitment for a full-time general surgeon is progressing.
