The Pleasant View R-6 Board of Education heard a preliminary report on APR, approved a field trip and extended a contract during a meeting held Tuesday evening at the school.
R-6 School District Meets All APR Areas
According to information provided by Superintendent Tiffany Otto, the board heard the preliminary APR report, which shows that the district met all seven areas that are required by K-8 schools. The board also heard teacher reports from Alice Gates, Shani Kinney and Cassie Murphy and approved a request for third and fourth graders to take a field trip to Lathrop on Oct. 7.
In other business, the board approved bus routes for the 2011-2012 school year, approved MSBA policy updates, adopted the Code of Ethics Conflict of Interest policy as is required every two years, and learned that SAT 10 testing was completed this week for students in grades K-8 and that the school audit was performed by Scott Stephens on Aug. 18-19. An audit report should be ready sometime in November.
In her report, Mrs. Otto also told the board that there are 63 students in grades kindergarten through eight, with another 20 students in the preschool and 32 in the Early Childhood Special Education program. She presented a copy of the seventh and eighth grade basketball schedule, which shows the first game set for Oct. 17.
Following an executive session, the board voted to extend an extra-duty contract for a seventh and eighth grade basketball coach. The name of that person will be released after she has signed a contract.
The next regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 11.
