The winners were chosen by members of the Fair Board, recognizing their exemplary conduct and sportsmanship during fair activities. Miss McLaughlin is a current Putnam County schools student and Young is a PCHS graduate.
“Two weeks ago, North Central Missouri College dedicated our new agriculture campus, the Barton Farm Campus,” Dr. Alley said. “We can’t think of a better way to extend our celebration than to give awards to these two young people for their efforts and involvement in agriculture. It’s a privilege to recognize Amy and Cole for the way they have represented themselves, their families, and their respective organizations throughout the Putnam County Fair. I also want to thank the Fair Board for allowing us to be a part of their activities.”
David Nowland, NCMC agriculture department chair, along with ag instructor Rustin Jumps, developed the award to recognize outstanding young people who had an interest and demonstrated involvement in 4-H and FFA activities during fair events. Each winner received a certificate, an NCMC agriculture department sweatshirt, and a camp chair to take with them when they participate in other agricultural events.
In addition, NCMC had a booth at the fair to provide general college information as well as information regarding the Barton Farm campus. The table was staffed by Macey Tipton and PCHS graduates/NCMC students Jessica Lutz and Cole Young.
