The parade will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15 and is part of the Missouri Day Festival activities planned for Oct. 13-16. The theme for this year is “Missouri Day – A Family Tradition” and parade organizers are putting a special emphasis on the addition of more entries in the parade lineup, in particular floats and decorated conveyences.
For the first time ever, monetary prizes are being offered in the float category, including a $200 top prize for the “Spirit of Missouri Day” award winner. Prizes of $100 each will be awarded to the Best Business Float, the Best Organizational Float, the Best Youth Float and, in keeping with the parade theme, the largest number of family members on a decorated conveyence. Framed certificates are being awarded for the Best Dressed Equestrian Entry, the Best Car/Truck pre-1960, the Best Car/Truck 1961 or newer and the Oldest Farm Tractor.
Entries are being taken by Steve Maxey at the Office of Development at NCMC at 359-3948, ext. 1403 or they can be done by e-mail at [email protected]. There is no entry fee except for those of a politcal nature. Those will be charged a $25 fee. The entry deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12.
For more information, persons can contact Maxey or Rick Klinginsmith at 359-2274.
