Robin Griswold and Shelly Searcy, who are volunteers with the organization, talked about their involvement with the program and the children with whom they deal. Youth ages 2 1/2 to 18 years of age with a chronic disease are eligible to receive a wish. Mrs. Griswold and Ms. Searcy are volunteers with the northwest district and work with children in rural Missouri. They have clients in areas including Bosworth, Marceline, McFall and are currently working with a child from Trenton. Wishes range from trips to Florida and Disney World to a shopping spree and a visit to the zoo in Omaha, NE. The program is operated with donations and Mrs. Griswold said the foundation tries to make the wishes “as memorable as possible.”
During the business meeting, sign-up sheets were passed around for the Sept. 17 fish fry as well as to order Rotary shirts and/or sweatshirts. Information was shared concerning the need for marshals for the Missouri Day Parade and Tom Mock, a member of the Grundy County Museum Board, invited the club to visit the medical exhibit at the museum as a group.
Next week’s program chairman is Scott Weldon, who will have motivational speaker Steve Edwards as his program.
