Anna Gertrude McKay, an 89-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton, where she resided for two years

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A visitation is scheduled from 6 to 7 o’clock tonight (Friday, Sept. 9, 2011) at the funeral home.
Mrs. McKay was born on Feb. 22, 1922, the only child of James R. and Phoebe J. Jumper Snyder of Princeton. She was married to Harry McKay on May 28, 1939 in Galt and they lived their entire marriage in Trenton. She worked 25 years at Wright Memorial Hospital, during which time she attended the first LPN program at NCMC in 1967-1968. She was the first person to receive the Humanitarian Award in 1983 from Wright Memorial Hospital and the community. She was the president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Wright Memorial Ladies Auxiliary and the Republican Woman’s organization. She was a 65-year member of the Rebekah Lodge, serving as noble grand three times as well as state chaplain one year, and was a member of the IOOF Lodge for 13 years.
Anna enjoyed making over 35 quilts, reading her Bible and poetry. She loved her family and helping people. She collected many things, including over 200 dolls, a couple of which are over 100 years old.
The McKays had four children, Annette Brodie, James, Ray and Bill McKay; seven grandchildren, Anna Brodie, Carol Holloway, Terri Hammett, Eric McKay, Amy McKay, Jeff McKay and B.J. McKay; and 40 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, James and Bill; and a grandson, BJ.
Memorial donations are requested to be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
