Max Wescoat, 85, died on Monday, Sept. 5, 2011 at John Knox Villate Hospice in Lee’s Summit.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at the First Christian Church in Trenton. Burial will follow at Harris Cemetery with military honors.
Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011 at the Floral Hills Chapel in Kansas City.
Mr. Wescoat was born on March 30, 1926 in rural Harris, the son of Guy Benton Wescoat and Emma Harryman Wescoat. He graduated from Harris High School in 1943 and then joined the Navy in 1943 serving as an aircraft mechanic (Aviation Ordnance Man) AOM 2/C. Following his discharge from the Navy, he married Virginia Ruth Johnson in 1946 and they lived in rural Harris, where he farmed and raised cattle. He also co-owned a grain elevator in Harris and was a commercial pilot for Zantop Airlines from 1965 to 1966. From 1986 to 1994 Max and Virginia managed Bowen Plaza Apartments in Raytown and after retirement made their home in Raytown.
He was a member of the Raytown Christian Church, Elks Lodge of Trenton, Masonic Lodge of Trenton, Moila Shriners of St. Joseph, VFW, DAV and the Quiet Birdmen of Kansas City.
Mr. Wescoat is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia, of the home; three daughters and their spouses, Pamela R. and Maurice May, of Milan, Mary Elizabeth and John Engram, of Sikeston and Jennifer Lynn and Ron Gillespie, of Lees Summit; grandchildren: Monte May of Kansas City, Isaac Engram of Sikeston, Angela Noonan of Olathe, KS, Kristina Grimmett and Rachel Gillespie of Lee’s Summit and Elizabeth Engram of Sikeston; great-grandchildren, Alexis Martinez of West Point, NY and Cole Browning of Olathe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Owen Dean Wescoat; a sister, Mary Opal Stuart; and a daughter, Marcia Ann Wescoat.
