Plans are being finalized for the 2011 Trenton High School Alumni celebration, slated for Friday, Sept. 2 to Sunday, Sept. 4.

The 50-year class of 1961 and the 25-year class of 1986 will be the honor classes this year with former R-9 vocal music instructor Ann Brinser selected as the teacher honoree. A 1956 graduate of Trenton High School, she taught music in the Pleasant View R-6 School District prior to coming to Trenton in 1983, teaching until 2000, when she retired due to illness. She is remembered for her revitalization of the vocal music program at Trenton High School and her contribution to both the school district and community. During Mrs. Brinser’s time as teacher, vocal music students were able to participate in a number of events within the community, such as singing at nursing homes and organization meetings, as well as travel to ballgames, hockey games and even the governor’s mansion to perform. Mrs. Brinser’s music students also performed at the induction of Trenton resident Troy Smith when he was elected president of the Missouri School Boards Association.
Mrs. Brinser and her husband, Bill, still reside in Trenton. They have three sons, Robert and his wife, Kathy, Joe and his wife, Leah and Gary, who is deceased. They are also the grandparents of two boys and two girls.
Mrs. Brinser will be honored by the THS Class of 1986 during its activities on Saturday, Sept. 3.
There are several all-class and individual class activities planned for the weekend. The schedule, according to the Alumni News, includes:
Friday, Sept. 2
All-alumni mixer at the Riverside Country Club (downstairs), 6 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 3
All-alumni hospitality registration and open house, high school commons from 9 a.m. to noon.
All-alumni dance, Elks Lodge from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Sunday, Sept. 4
All-alumni brunch and business meeting at THS commons, 10 a.m. to noon.
There will also be golf at the RCC all weekend. Green fees will be collected.
Individual activities planned include:
Class of 1933-36 – Meeting at Lakeview Restaurant on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with lunch to follow.
Classes 1940-42 – Dinner on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the First Christian Church fellowship hall.
Class of 1946 – Informal coffee at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the First Baptist Church fellowship hall, followed by lunch at noon.
Class of 1947 – Dinner and meeting at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Lakeview Restaurant.
Class of 1951 – Buffet lunch at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Tenth Street Baptist Church. Church will be open for visiting.
Class of 1953 – Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Royal Inn Pizza.
Class of 1954 – Meet at THS commons at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Class of 1956 – Dinner at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Dockery Chapel Church.
Class of 1957 – BBQ at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Crowder Park at enclosed shelterhouse. Come as early as 1 p.m. to visit. Picnic at noon on Sunday at the home of Dr. Phil McClure.
Class of 1961 – Social at 4 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Ketcham Community Center.
Class of 1966 – Hospitality hour at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. on Saturday at McJ’s on the Green.
Class of 1971 – Social at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Ketcham Community Center.
Class of 1976 – Social and meal at the home of Patricia Lenhart at 7 p.m. on Saturday. RSVP and further details at [email protected].
Class of 1981 – Meet at Elks Lodge at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Class of 1986 – Social mixer at Duane Urich’s home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday (everyone welcome after 9 p.m.); Tribute and dinner at the home of Duane Urich on Saturday.
Any other classes having special events are asked to contact the Republican-Times so they can be included in a story to be published the week of Aug. 29.
