It’s almost time for the annual Bed Races at Art in the Park on Saturday, Aug 27. There is plenty of time left to get your “bed” in the race!
There will be trophies for first-, second- and third-place finishers in two categories – men and coed/ladies. There is also a spirit trophy, which will be judged by best theme, team name, decorations and/or overall spirit.
All teams need to have a team name – something like “Bed Pan Buddies” – so be creative. Each team will need four runners and one rider. Other rules will also apply.
This year, if there are enough entries, a third category will be added – Geriatrics. Each team will be made up of people whose ages add up to 150 years or more. Rules will be slightly different – no running, just fast walking!
There will be entertainment between the heats and/or category to allow teams to have a break in the action.
The beds can be used for more than one category. Runners/walkers can also enter in more than one category.
