North Missouri 4-H and FFA youth have the opportunity to test their livestock knowledge at the NW 4-H and FFA Regional Livestock contest on Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Litton Agri-Center near Chillicothe.
Livestock Judging At Chillicothe
Chillicothe ag instructor Lance Martin will be the featured judge for the event. This is a competition, but youth will also have the opportunity to hone their judging abilities. Judges will give the official placings and discuss judging techniques with youth. The top junior and senior team of four will receive a plaque in addition to the top two junior and top two senior judging members.
The contest will be based on the State 4-H Livestock Judging competition format. The species to be judged will include beef, sheep, goats, and swine. There will be six classes for youth to judge.
The North Missouri Livestock Contest is open to all 4-H and FFA youth ages 8-18. Project leaders, advisors, and adults are welcome.
Registration will be from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. and judging will be over by approximately 11:30 a.m. with awards to follow. The cost for the event is $5 by Aug. 24 and $7 day of the contest.
