The theme is “Honoring the American Farmer,” with a tractor cruise planned on Friday, Sept. 16, leaving the fairgrounds at 9:30 a.m. The cruise will come into town around 4 p.m. and tractors will be located on the south side of the square for public viewing. An ice cream social will be held and sandwiches and drinks will also be served. A gospel band will be providing musical entertainment. The day will end with a Ranch Rodeo at 6 p.m. at the arena.
Grand River Mutual will be in charge of the parade on Saturday with Amy Clapham taking entries. A float for farmers who have Century Farms is planned as well as a display at Shelter Insurance office. A limited amount of t-shirts for Calamity Jane Day will be ordered with a similar design to the tractor cruise shirt.
There will be a quilt show at the methodist church along with a resting place. The texting contest will be sponsored by Mid-States Services. The Princeton First Baptist Church has a space to give away water and several vendors have reserved spaces for the flea market and for events in the basement of the Hal England Center.
Mike Homedale is in charge of the car show on Sunday. The senior center will be serving cinnamon rolls and biscuits and gravy that morning and lunch at 11 a.m. The band for the car show is JFK. There will be a shootout at 1 p.m. and the melodrama performance at 1:30 p.m. that day.
The Calamity Jane Queen contest is Aug. 20 at the First Baptist Church with Lisa Cast and Melissa Mallinson in charge.
A bid has been received to repair the leak at the cow palace, but one more is being sought. Insurance has been paid for the chamber as well as the fee to use the cow palace.
