Flower Show Set For Aug. 4

The North Central Missouri Fair Flower Show will be held at the Rock Barn on Thursday, Aug. 4.

Participants can register their entries from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. The events are open to the public and there is no entry fee. Community members are needed to bring flowers for display.
Categories include individual specimens, junior division, arrangements and container grown plants. The show is sponsored by Dorothy Taul and the Grand River Garden Club.
Individual specimens include classes for roses, annuals, perennials, bulbs, tubers, branches, shrubs, herbs and grasses. The junior division has entries for flower arrangements in water, flower arrangements in fruit and vegetables and flower arrangements under five inches. Arrangements include Crystal Cathedral (all white); novice design; Keep Missouri Green (all green); Woodland Beauty (dried); fruits and vegetables; Summer Tranquilty (using water); Country Paths (roadside materials); A Bit of Summer (under five inches); and Beauty in a Small Way (dried).
Container-Grown Plants include African violets, blooming, hanging, foliage, ferns and succulents.
Participants have a chance to win ribbons, prize money and best of show prizes. Exhibitors must have grown the specimen shown, and have had the plants in their possession for at least three months. They must be healthy and clean.
Exhibitors are asked to remove their entries between 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6.
