Dorothy L. Sherman, an 84-year-old resident of Fairbanks, AK, died on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Sherman was born on March 19, 1927, the daughter of Gladys M. Haney and Robert Haney. She was a former Trenton resident and a graduate of Trenton High School. Shortly after high school she married William Sherman, who preceded her in death on April 22, 1981.
She is survived by a daughter, Marceile Birklid of Fairbanks; a sister, Hope J. Layne Higgins of Abilene, KS; two grandchildren, Brent Birklid and Eric Birkland; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys M. Layne; a stepfather, Robert Layne; a brother, Robert Haney Jr.; and an aunt, Opal D. Wright, an uncle, T. A. Wright and grandmother, Ella D. Brunt, all of whom lived in Trenton.
