Mary Frances Barnett, a 92-year-old resident of Bettendorf, IA, died on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport, IA.

Services in celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport, with Pastor Brian Spitzer officiating. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 to 7 o’clock tonight (Tuesday, July 5, 2011).
Mrs. Barnett was born in 1918 in Brookfield, the daughter of Grover and Daisy May Peacher. She was married to Ralph Barnett on June 16, 1944 in Brookfield. She graduated from Chillicothe Business College and worked for over 17 years as a resource clerk and library aide at Bettendorf High School.
She was a charter member of the 3 Bridges Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association and a lifetime member of Royal Neighbors. Mary enjoyed feeding squirrels and birds.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Ralph; two daughters, Shirley (Gerald) Strohm of Eldridge, IA and Sherry (Joseph) Smahaj of Lowden, IA; two sons, James Kenneth Barnett of Eldridge and Randall (Lynne) Barnett of Lowden; eight grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Memorials may be made to the 3 Bridges Chapter ABWA Scholarship Fund.
