Funeral services for James Ellis will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.

Mr. Ellis, a 73-year-old Trenton resident died at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Mr. Ellis was born on Dec. 3, 1937 in Trenton, the son of Bryant and Myrtle Hobbs Ellis. He was married on Jan. 6, 1969 in Trenton to Janice Reim. He was employed for 39 years with Trenton Foods and he was a member of the 10th Street Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his garden.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Janice of Trenton; a daughter, Melissa Garbo of Parkville; two brothers Russell and George Ellis of Trenton; two sisters, Mary Lou Ellis of Trenton and JoAnn Sawyer of Independence; and two grandchildren Brian and Noel Loyall of Parkville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society and may be left with the funeral home.
