Galt Fair Is July 7-10

The Galt Community Fair will be held July 7-10 on the square in downtown Galt.

Activities get under way on Thursday, July 7 with a spaghetti supper at the fire station, served by the Galt Fire Protection District Ladies Auxiliary. The meal will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. Grundy R-5 FFA members will also be entering their farm mechanics displays until 9 p.m.
Quilts, crafts, garden and 4-H exhibit entries will be accepted until 10 a.m. on Friday, with articles to be picked up no later than 4 p.m. on Saturday. Red, white and blue ribbons will be given in various judged categories.
The lunch room will be open on both Friday and Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m., with whole hog roast sandwiches being served. It will close during the parade on Saturday night.
Friday night’s grandstand entertainment will be a demonstration by the Galt Fire Protection District at 7 p.m., followed at 8 p.m. by music from the “Medicine Creek” band. Persons should bring lawnchairs for seating.
Saturday’s schedule includes a variety of events, beginning with the baby show at the Galt Baptist Church. Registration is at 8:30 a.m., with the show to start at 9 a.m. Contests will be held in four age groups, both girls and boys, and first, second- and third-place cash prizes will be awarded. Age groups include up to 4 months, 5 to 9 months, 10 to 18 months and 19 to 36 months.
Street contests are scheduled for 10 a.m. in the city park. There will be games for both children and adults and prizes will be awarded.
The children’s parade will be held following judging at 5 p.m. Entries should be lined up by the old bank building. Judging categories include the pet parade, the bicycle contest and best costume contest, all for youth under the age of 12.
The adult parade is at 6 p.m. and entries are to be in line at the ballpark at 5 p.m. for judging. First-, second- and third-place money prizes will be given. Categories include draft horses, floats, best old car or truck, pre-1950 tractors, best dressed clown, best decorated horse and rider and horse and mule hitch. Antique tractors must have rubber tires or be hauled.
The evening entertainment features “Young Country” in the grandstand area at 8 p.m. Persons should bring a lawnchair for seating.
During intermission, drawings will be held and the prince and princess named. Candidates include Erica Lovett and Aidan Rains, kindergarten; Daya Allnutt and Colton Smiley, first grade; Lael Rolen and Caden Gann, second grade; Ellen Baxter and Colton Chaney, third grade; Alissa Webb and Lane Kenley, fourth grade; Amy Torrey and Isaiah Davidson, fifth grade; and Jaylen Neff and Victor Barriga, sixth grade.
Community church services are planned at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday at the park. Persons should bring a lawnchair for seating.
