According to information provided by Principal Mike Garrett, the board approved budget amendments for the 2010-2011 fiscal year. Garrett said the final balance indicated the district went approximately $14,500 over budget, with that amount including over $40,000 in building improvements. He said the board plans to put $10,000 to $15,000 per year into facilities.
The board agreed to seek bids for dairy, bread, fuel, propane and the district audit, as well as for transportation. The district agreed to put out bids to lease a single bus for the upcoming year and will also look into the purchase of a 10-passenger van to transport students. The bus routes were also discussed and final plans will be reviewed and decided on at the July board meeting.
The board agreed to continue with the cooperative agreement with Chula, Laredo and Pleasant View to share an art teacher. Cynthia McClary has been hired for the 2011-2012 school year.
In other business, the board approved payment for the gutter replacement project, which was completed as planned, and discussed the Fall 2011 MSBA Conference, which the board plans to attend.
In his report, Garrett said the building maintenance is on schedule, with the third floor being waxed and most of the painting projects having been completed. He noted that he has enrolled and participated in the year-long Leadership Academy, which is being paid for by a grant.
The board meeting began with an executive session to discuss personnel and student matters. No announcement was made.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 18.
