A committee has been formed to begin fundraising for the event, which will be held at dusk on the evening of Monday, July 4. The display will be shot off from the grassy area just to the north of the Rock Barn. A company from Huntsville has been contracted to shoot the display, with assistance from the Trenton Fire Department.
It is hoped to raise around $2,000 for the display and local and area residents are being encouraged to donate to help defray the costs. Donations canisters are being placed in various businesses around town, including TNT Convenience on 28th Street, Casey’s on Ninth Street, Main Stop, Hy-Vee and Trenton City Hall. Donations are also being accepted at the office of the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce at 617 Main St. as well as by committee members Diane Lowrey (Trenton Republican-Times), Rosetta Marsh (Trenton Municipal Utilities), Debbie Carman (Chamber of Commerce), Kerry Sampson, Ralph Boots (City of Trenton) or Jacob Black (Farmers Mutual Insurance). They can also be mailed to the chamber office at 617 Main St., Trenton, MO 64683. Checks should be made out to the Chamber of Commerce and designated for fireworks.
For more information, persons can contact Ms. Carman at the chamber office, 359-4324.
