Buddy Lee Breckenridge, a 77-year-old resident of Liberty, died on Wednesday afternoon, June 8, 2011 at Liberty Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the First Christian Church in Trenton with Lonny Veach officiating. Burial will be in Hatton Chapel Cemetery, northwest of Trenton.
Family visitation will be held at the First Christian Church on Saturdayrom 10 to 11 a.m.
Mr. Breckenridge was born on Sept. 19, 1933 in Des Moines, IA, the son of Walter (Red) and June Combs Breckenridge. As a youth, Buddy was a trick rider and roper traveling through out the midwest performing along side his parents and siblings, He became a noted saddle bronc rider as he grew up. He held memberships in the Rodeo Cowboys Association and the United Rodeo Cowboy Association (URA). He won the saddle bronc championships in the URA in the years of 1966 and 1969. He held the office of Saddle Bronc Director in the URA in 1968.
He worked as a saddlemaker for the Veach Saddlery in Trenton, moving into similar position for Trails End Saddlery in Des Moines, where Bud and Linda and sons made their homes.
On June 2, 1957 he was married to Linda Ruth Veach in Trenton. She preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 1994.
nHis survivors include four sons, Billie Breckenridge and his wife, Jayne of Mingo, IA, Walter Breckenridge of Des Moines, Clinton Breckenridge of Altoona, IA and Winston Breckenridge of Cedar Rapids, IA; eight grandchildren, Chance Breckenridge, Amanda Breckenridge , Lacy Breckenridge, Hank Breckenridge, Dalton Breckenridge, Bradley Breckenridge, Dillion Breckenridge and Spencer Breckenridge; one great-grandchild, Miranda Breckenridge; three sisters, Doris Badger of California, Helen Renner and her husband, Bob of Alabama and Peggy Osborn and her husband Ozzie of Maryland; one brother, Doug Gambrill and his wife, Shelly of Iowa; a sister-in-law, Lana Beverlin and her husband, Larry of Trenton; and a brother-in-law, Larry Veach and his wife, Carolyn of Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clyde Breckenridge; and one granddaughter, Chelsey Breckenridge.
Memorials are suggested to the Mary Ruth Veach Scholarship Fund in care of the NCMC Foundation. They may be left at the Slater Funeral Home at Trenton.
