Nine Trenton High School FFA members and two advisors were traveling to Maryville for an officer retreat today (Wednesday). Advisor Brook Kretz was driving through Albany on Highway 136 when another vehicle entered her path causing a collision.
Students OK After Accident
After an onsite exam by medical personnel, all Trenton R-9 staff and students were released from the scene to return home. None had injuries requiring immediate medical attention. The driver of the other car was taken to Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph for further medical treatment.
Parents of the students were contacted immediately following notification of the situation. A different bus was sent to Albany to bring staff and students home. Principal Dan Wiebers went to the site to assist and accompany students and staff back to Trenton.
“Situations like this are scary for everyone involve,” Superintendent Becky Albrecht said. “It is a relief that all students and staff have returned to town and are going to be fine. Student safety is a top priority so the district has procedures in place for all types of emergencies and situations. When this happened, everyone knew what to do and handled things appropriately.“
