Local Scouts Earn Eagle Award

Freddie Griffin and Colton Shaw received their Eagle Scout Award during ceremonies on Sunday afternoon at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Trenton.

Griffin is a member of Boy Scout Troop 97 and is the son of Fred and Patsy Griffin. For his Eagle project, Griffin constructed composting bins out of pine for the waste from the community gardens in Trenton for the food pantry.
He received his Scout Advancement in 2004 and also has received the advancements of tenderfoot, second class, first class, star, life awards and Arrow of Light. He has served as assistant patrol leader, troop guide, senior patrol leader, treasurer and assistant senior patrol leader. He was tapped into the Tribe of Mic-O-Say in 2006 as Seeks Bobcat. He has advanced to the ranks of brave, warrior, firebuilder, tom tom beater and is currently a runner. He has also earned his yellow dance coup.
He received the badges of Home Repair, Emergency Preparedness, Communications, Chemistry, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Woodcarving, Fishing, Environmental Science, Cycling, Personal Management, Reading, Crime Prevention, Photography, Forestry, Wilderness Survival, Law, Indian Lore, Soil and Water, First Aid, Citizenship in the Community, Genealogy, Personal Fitness, Leatherwork, Fire Safety, Public Speaking, Camping, Family Life, Scholarship, Collections, Fingerprinting, Archery, Auto Mechanic, Canoeing, Electricity and Rifle Shooting.
Shaw is a member of Troop 99 and is the son of Jim and Michelle Shaw. For his Eagle project, he installed four park benches at the Trenton High School tennis courts.
Shaw received his Scout Advancement in 2004. Other advancements received include tenderfoot, second class, third class, star and life awards. He has served as grubmaster, quartermaster, chaplain aide and scribe.
He was tapped into the Tribe of Mic-O-Say in 2006 as Little Climbs Mountain. He has earned his blue dance coup. He has advanced through the ranks of brave, warrior, firebuilding, tom tom beater and currently is a runner. His father, Jim, is Honorary Warrior Climbs Mountain.
