Tomato Workshop Set

University of Missouri Extension is planning a tomato growing workshop to be held on Wednesday, June 1, in Spickard.

The meeting will be at the Spickard Community Center, starting at 6 p.m. The workshop will emphasize improving tomato quality. The first presentation will be brought by Dr. Sanjun Gu, State Vegetable Specialist. He will discuss field tomato varieties and the typically used production systems in Missouri.
Dr. Jaime Pinero, State Integrated Pest Management Specialist, will discuss pest management for high tunnel and field tomatoes.
James Quinn, MU Extension Horticulture Specialist based in Jefferson City, will discuss the basics of high tunnel tomato production and a few problems which are typically encountered under that system.
Finally, Tim Baker, Northwest Region Horticulture Specialist for MU Extension, will examine tomato ripening disorders and soil fertility issues which can lead to these problems.
