2011 Lions All-Star Rosters Announced

Ninety-six senior athletes have been chosen for the 2011 Lions District All-Stars and will converge on the campus of North Central Missouri College next month. Senior basketball players from north Missouri will participate in the third annual district event set for June 3 and 4 culminating with the championship games on Saturday night at the Ketcham Community Center.

Selected to represent the Girls Black Team are the following: Rebekah Capeder and Lindsey Derry of Trenton High School, Cassie Teter of Princeton, Amber Mullen of Winston, Whitney Bennett of South Harrison, Breonna Embray of St. Joe Benton, Jodi Holmes of Nodaway-Holt, Chelsey Merrigan of Jefferson, Kassie Jones of West Nodaway and Hillary Todd of Union Star. The Black Team will be coached by Tyler Pederson of Jefferson and Quentin Albrecht of Trenton.
Representing the Girls Gold Team are Hillary Maberry, Kellie Sargent and Becca Zell, all of Meadville, Tiara Pettijohn of South Harrison, Hannah Booth of Ridgeway, Lauren Ewigman of Marceline, Hallie Dudley of North Andrew, Kaylee Barnett of Union Star, Lauren Null of Worth County and two Kearney players, Michaela Brinkley and Samantha Kixmiller. Tony Fairchild of Meadville and Greg Keith of Polo will coach the Girls Gold Team.
Chosen to join the Girls Purple Team are: Hannah Sweet of Tri-County, Kelly Kern of South Harrison, Chandelar Carey of North Harrison, Janella Saling of Lathrop, Rachel Barlow of Hale, Toshia Jones of South Holt, Hannah O’Donnell of East Buchanan, Thea Sagun of Albany, Mercedes Estes of St. Joseph Central and Jenny Hutton and Kera McKay, both of Osborn. Howard Ball of Osborn and Michael Lock of Norborne will coach the Girls Purple Team.
Rounding out the girls squads are members of the Girls White Team, coached by Ryan Davis of Lexington and Eric Fairchild of Northeast Nodaway. Members on the white team include Sarah Emerson of Pattonsburg, Mysti Williams of South Harrison, Alison Eggers of Hale, Morgan Vetter of Salisbury, Lindsey Partridge of Savannah, Kristin Sherry and Emily Bryant, both of Northeast Nodaway, and two Lathrop players, Randi Blaser and Alex Goodwin.
Named to the Boys Black Team are Japheth Busick and Kameron Cool of Newtown-Harris, Billy Wendt of South Harrison, Logan Holmer of Tina-Avalon, Lafayette Fleeks of Stewartsville, Bryce Farnan of Northeast Nodaway, Blake Shamberger of Nodaway-Holt, Dillon Craig of Keytesville, Colton Holtman of Jefferson, Caleb Mitchell of East Buchanan and two St. Joseph players, Cameron Richardson of Benton and Carson Lau of Central. Scott Jenkins of St. Joe Christian and Tim Cool of Newtown-Harris will lead the Boys Black Team.
Trace Naylor of Cameron, Zach Douglas of Chillicothe and Tyler Peve of Maryville will be joined by Zach Grossman of Tina-Avalon, Aaron Thomsen of North Harrison, Michael Burton of East Buchanan, Damen Williams of Kearney and Norbert Henry of Jefferson on the Boys White Team. Others are three Mid-Buchanan seniors, Brandon Wyatt, Christian Robbins and Nick Andriano. Bryce Kemper of Mid-Buchanan and Jeremy Austin of Trenton High School will coach the Boys White Team.
The Boys Purple Team will be coached by Doug Freemeyer of South Nodaway and Luke Cox of Tarkio. Making up the Purple Team for the boys are Mitch Hatten of Cameron, Vance Purdun of Princeton, Taylor Eoff of Gilman City, Jordan Whitney of Grundy R-5, Jake Cook of Tri-County, Jacob Stoll of Jefferson, Dalton Workman of King City, Rick Tate of Meadville, Dillon Hufford of Polo, Kyle Livengood of Tarkio, Kent Munson of Maysville and St. Joseph Lafayette’s Tim Nelson.
Completing the eight-team roster is the Boys Gold Team, coached by Nick Groomer of Stanberry and Ryan Nichols of Buchanan County. Members on the gold squad include Josh Pickrell and Keagan Prather of Hamilton, Nick Wilson of Gilman City, Brody Heidenwith of Putnam County, Cody Youtsey of Winston, Tyler McQuinn of Stanberry, Jake Ewigman of Marceline, Heath Harris of West Nodaway, Freddie Manyawu of Platte County, Austin Springer of Salisbury, Andrew Stagner of Savannah and Colby Wiederholt of Northeast Nodaway.
Teams will arrive on the campus of NCMC on Friday morning when a day filled with practices will begin. A public banquet will be held on Friday night, featuring motivational speaker, former college athlete and former member of the Milwaukee Brewers, Bill Severns, as the keynote speaker. Eight games are scheduled throughout the day on Saturday.
The event is locally sponsored by the Lions District 26-M 4 and hosted by North Central Missouri College.
