Lester P. Ritter, an 88-year-old, resident of Trenton, died on Monday morning, May 9, 2011 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

The body will be cremated under the direction of Slater Funeral Home at Trenton. No services are planned at this time.
Mr. Ritter, was born on July 16, 1922 in Spickard, the son of John Q. and Bonnie O. Dowler Ritter. He graduated from Spickard High School in1941. He moved to Trenton in 1943, where he worked for Muff’s Bakery, Trenton Canning Plant and the L.O. Graham Store. In 1950 he moved to California and worked as a carpenter for one year before becoming employed with the department of Air Force as a air traffic controller, retiring after 30 years and moving back to Trenton in 1984.
He was married at Chillicothe on March 1, 1996 to Barbara Woody.
His survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; three step-daughters, Shirley Hutchison, Gwen Courtney and her husband, Joe, and Sherrill Simpson, all of Trenton; two sisters, Esta Betz and Elgevia Russell, both of Trenton; 10 grandchildren, including Chris Wilson of Trenton; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Merie Brown; and one brother, Max Brown.
