Nursing Home Week Is May 8-14

May 8-14 has been designated as National Nursing Home Week in Trenton and both Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments and Eastview Manor Care Center have a number of activities planned for residents as well as members of the public.

Sunnyview
Activities at Sunnyview will get under way on Friday, May 6 with a Mother’s Day luncheon. A week-long list of events are scheduled for the next week, beginning with a ballon launch at 11:15 a.m. on Monday. A carnival will be held at 2 p.m. and the group, “Fresh Anointing,” will perform at 7 p.m.
Tuesday is “Sports Day,” hosted by the RA’s. Baseball is scheduled at 10 a.m. There will be sports contests at 2 p.m. and sports trivia at 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday will be “Farm Day,” with the dietary department in charge. There will be a performance of linedancers at 9:45 a.m. “Fun on the Farm” is set for 2 p.m. and there will be a clogging performance at 4 p.m.
“Fiesta Day,” hosted by the front office, is set for Thursday. Residents will design their own sombreros at 10 a.m. There will be a pinata activity at 2 p.m. and musical sombreros will be played at 6:30 p.m.
Friday is “Las Vegas Day,” hosted by the nursing staff. Casino time is at 10 a.m. and “showtime” is set for 2 p.m. A Vegas-style wedding will be performed at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday’s events include a performance by the Mic-O-Say Dancers at 2:15 p.m.
Eastview
The first activity of the week at Eastview is on Saturday, May 7, when a Mother’s Day tea will be held at 1:30 p.m. Logan Pettis will perform and refreshments will be served. It will also be “Dress Up Day.”
“Red White and Blue” dress will be encouraged on Sunday. Residents will have reading in their rooms at 9:30 a.m., with sensory stimulation at 10:30 a.m. South Evans Christian Church will have services at 1:30 p.m. and TV time will be at 6 p.m.
Monday will be “Summer Day,” with exercise class at 9:30 a.m. A balloon release will be at 2 p.m. and malts will be served. TV time will be at 6 p.m.
“T-Shirt and Blue Jean Day” will be on Tuesday. The linedancers will perform at 9:30 a.m. and punch will be served. Church services by Harold Kost will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. and TV time will be at 6 p.m.
Wednesday will be “Hobo Day,” with residents having a conversation about hobos at 9:30 a.m. An outdoor cookout is planned at 11:30 a.m. (weather permitting) and a movie on hobos will be shown at 1:30 p.m. TV time is at 6 p.m.
“Cowboy Hat Day” will be held on Thursday. A John Wayne movie will be shown at 1:30 p.m., with popcorn and soda being served. Billy Barlow will provide the evening entertainment at 6:30.
On Friday, “Beach Day” will be observed, with volleyball to be played at 9:30 a.m. and lemonade served. There will be a style show by residents and staff at 1:30 p.m. and ice cream bars will be served.
Saturday will be “Tye-Dye Shirt Day” and residents will play ring toss and horseshoes at 9:30 a.m. The Mic-O-Say Dancers will perform at 1:30 p.m. and TV time will be at 6 p.m.
