Elbert “Jake” Clark, a 98-year-old Galt resident, died at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.

The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton with military honors to follow. Rev. Stan Richardson will officiate. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Union Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Clark was born on Feb. 21, 1913 in Dunlap, the son of Ora and Lula Briegel Clark. He attended rural Grundy and Mercer County schools. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was married to Wineva Jean Sharp. He was a lifelong farmer in the Galt area. He was a member of the Half Rock Christian Church.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Wineva Clark of Galt; two sons, Danny Clark and his wife, Peggy of Kirksville, and David Clark and his companion, Melinda Campbell of Galt; two daughters, Debra Dennis and her fiance, Dennis Parker of Blue Springs and Deanna Washburn and her husband, Dennie, of Trenton; one sister, Pauline Peterson of Aberdeen, WA; grandchildren, Amanda Spencer and her husband, Steve, Margaret Clark and her husband, Henric Haldeborg, Melissa Clark, Daniel Clark, Jonathan Clark, Jimmy Dennis, Jacob Dennis, and Jessica Dennis, Kayla Kempton and her husband, Shane, Katie Freeman and her husband, Greg, and Kimberly Meeker and her husband, Jason; and five great-grandchildren, Dylan Spencer, Ellie Meeker, Summer Meeker, Addisyn Freeman and Madeleine Clark-Haldeborg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Velma Clemens and Helen Hampshire; and brothers, Lloyd Clark, Glen Clark, Carrol Clark, Ernest Clark, Russell Clark, and Clyde “Jim” Clark.
