Nixon To Attend Deployment Ceremony

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon will be among those attending the deployment ceremony for the 548th Transportation Company scheduled for Monday afternoon.

Gov. Nixon has been added to the list of dignitaries who will make remarks at the ceremony, set for 3 p.m. at the Ketcham Community Center on the campus of North Central Missouri College. The public is invited to attend the ceremony, after which the 170 citizen-soldiers will depart for Kansas City International Airport. They will go to Fort Bliss, TX for several weeks of final instruction before departing for a year-long deployment to Afghanistan. Since March 7, the unit has been conducting pre-deployment training at Camp Clark in Nevada.
